Plugin cannot bei opened

I downloaded a plugin for Ardour from the web and put it under “Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components”. Now, when Ardour starts, MacOS reports that the plugin cannot be opened because it comes from an uncertified developer.

I know the phenomenon from other apps and know that I have to start an app with right-click to overcome this hurdle. But it’s hard to start a plugin without the host, in this case Ardour.

You have to remove the quarantine bit. You can do this from the commandline in the same way you would with an application:

That link explains to do it with an application, but instead of the application you substitute the plugin instead, and then see if that works. All typical caveats about making sure you are doing this with trusted software etc. apply.
