playback silent with device 1

so all of a sudden my playback has ceased in a session
audio coming in is still functioning. i can record and monitor what i am recording but when i attempt playback i get nothing but silence. i was having zero problem yesterday so i haven’t a clue what is going wrong. i uninstalled then reinstalled ardour hoping that might fix things but nothing still

ok so i ran ardour from bin folder with the terminal open and saw a message pop up in terminal that there is a processing error in jack…whats my best route here

Well the first thing is that we would need to see what exactly your messages are.

The second thing is that Linux doesn’t always number audio devices the same unless you specifically tell it to, so it is always worth double checking this.

Third thing, do you have any plugins in the session? If you do, disable them and try again. Try with a fresh session as well. See if that makes any difference.

Fourth thing, check your routing, make sure you still have your master bus patched into the appropriate system_playback ports.

and a general comment: on linux, uninstalling and reinstalling applications as a way of solving problems is a very bad habit and one you should try to get rid of quickly as possible. i’m not sure where people got the idea that this was a sensible way of approaching problems, but wherever it came from - try to forget it.

That idea came from Windows I think:) Cursed Registry…
