Not sure if this is a common problem, but every now and then (especially on the second time ever opening a session) the audio track routing will get scrambled.
E.g. maybe I’ve got a couple of bass tracks going into a bus which then goes into the master bus, and after saving, quitting Ardour, and reloading the session without changing anything about the audio interface, audio server settings etc., on the next time I open the session there’s a really good chance one of those bass tracks will be routed to both master bus and the bass bus.
Also, I believe I’ve seen cases where if you duplicate a track that was going into one bus, re-route it, save the project, close & re-open, it will remember both the old routing and the new one so that you get double-bus outputs the next time you open the project.
At the very least on my system there seems to be some issues with persistent track routing so I wanted to ask if anyone else has any tips/tricks on how to deal with this.
This issue was certainly infuriating, as upon the second opening of the session, precisely as you point-out (…or more accurately after opening it up again after having made any track/bus name changes), many routes would be wrong and old or broken and whatnot…
I can happily confirm that yes, this is now 100% fixed in the current builds of Ardour 9.
So try it out and see if what you’re describing is resolved.
