optimizing comp. for realtime audio performance

Howdy,

I’m running 2.7.1 with ubuntu jaunty jackalope on an approximately 4 year old Lenovo C100 laptop. My problem is that skipping is occurring during the recording process. I’ve run ardour on previous ubuntu versions (perhaps older versions of ardour), and had smooth recording, so I’m wondering if this is simply an issue of my comp not having the performance ability to cope with ardour, or more so that I don’t have things as optimal as they could be for realtime audio performance. Suggestions on a good place to start with this problem would be much appreciated!

cheers.

The standard answer…

Google “jack realtime limits.conf”

Without the quotes of course.
