@jackson4chris: the list of audio file formats supported by the Linux version is given here:

http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/#Features

Note that support for Ogg/Vorbis depends on how libsndfile was compiled, not on anything specifically related to Ardour.

On OS X, various Apple libraries also provide access to additional formats such as MP3 and AAC.
