On-the-Fly Sample Conversion

A couple of audio production environments I’ve worked with in the past can suck in audio at varying sample rates and convert on the fly as you are working. A standout was/is the IQS “SAW” line of DAWs from the last 15 years or so.

I haven’t tried it yet, and I didn’t see it in the literature, but is Ardour - or cousin Mixbus - also capable of this?

No, audio is resampled on import.

high-quality realtime resampling of say 64 tracks will even put the fanciest modern machine under high load.

How is Reaper doing this? It works pretty well with at most 48 tracks I’ve tried.
(No trolling question)

lower quality resampling than we consider acceptable. actually, we really don’t consider any resampling to be acceptable. your mileage may vary.
