Novation Launchkey MK4 Mini 25 issue

Has anyone managed to get the Launchkey MK4 mini 25 working?

I’d be using it on this system:
OS: Ubuntu Studio 24.04
Kernel: 6.17.0-35
Ardour: 9.7.0

Every time I launch Ardour, the controller behaves differently. For example, sometimes the transport section works, and sometimes it doesn’t. The pads also only work partially (solo, mute). I haven’t been able to get the encoders to work at all yet. I’ve tried several plugins, but to no avail.

And yet I bought both the controller and Ardour specifically because it’s a supported device.

Which audio/MIDI backend are you using?

I tried using Jack/Pipewire and ALSA.

Currently, Pipewire’s MIDI implementation is broken in ways which lead to unreliable behavior, especially for control surfaces. This is believed fixed in their next release.

Things ought to work under ALSA. It’s been a while since I plugged mine in but I’ll give it a test run later today to check.
