Note Mode: Sustained, Percussive

Hi all,
there is an item that I have never used in the MIDI tracks menu:

“Note Mode” → “Sustained/Percussive”.

I have always used various MIDI drums and percussion instruments a lot, without ever using this item.
Who can explain to me in very simple words what it means and what it is for?
Is it simply a different way of viewing notes? In terms of sound, I don’t think anything has changed…

But it is also slightly different working from an interaction point of view, because you do not have to think about notelength. It is assumed you use one shot sounds.

It is best for editing drums or one-shot triggered samples. Trigger points are diamonds.
