No Video Monitor

Ardour 6.9.0, XJadeo 0.8.10, macOS 10.15.7, Intel Mac Mini

Installed Ardour to an external volume. Installed XJadeo to the same directory of that volume. Opened test video, transcoded. Video timeline is generated. Right click drop down menu: Video Monitor is grayed out. Window>Video Monitor: no effect. ^V: no effect. Preferences: Video: Custom Path to Video Monitor (Jadeo.app): /Volumes/######/Jadeo.app

Quit
Start

Open Session. Video timeline is generated. Right click drop down menu: Video Monitor is grayed out. Window>Video Monitor: no effect. ^V: no effect.

What? How do I fix this?

Notable also: using the GUI tool in preferences to manually select Jadeo.app, the app shows up as a folder, which can only be opened and not selected. Outside the app, I am able to open XJadeo itself, permission has been set.

Sadly installing Jadeo.app in a place other than /Applications is currently not supported on macOS (this was only just fixed in Ardour 7.0-pre0-1050).

You can however work around this, in Jadeo.app//Contents/MacOS/ create a symlink pointing “xjadeo” to “Jadeo-bin”.

cd /Volumes/XXXXX/Jadeo.app # replace XXX to where you've installed it
cd Contents/MacOS/
ln -s Jadeo-bin xjadeo

That did the trick. Thank you!
