need some help getting started

when i try and open a new session i get this error and i dont know how to solve it
Ardour could not start JACK
There are several possible reasons:

  1. You requested audio parameters that are not supported…
  2. JACK is running as another user.

Please consider the possibilities, and perhaps try different parameters.

any help is greatly apperciated

Hi, most probably you have to set up JACK correctly. JACK is the audio server and ardour (and other Linux audio apps) needs it to run. Run qjackctl (named JACK Control in the menu of some distros) prior to launch ardour and set it up correctly. This depends on your hardware and software configuration. (With some luck you’ll get it running out of the box but even so, do take a look in the guides which explain what is JACK and how to configure it, so you can get a good audio system).
