Why am I still hearing muted tracks? I hit the yellow button with the M on it for a track, and… I’m still hearing it.

Actually, I’m using 2.8.11, revision 7679.
this is either an existing session created with an earlier version or you still have ~/.ardour2/ardour.rc in a state created by an earlier buggy version of ardour. See http://ardour.org/node/3613 for details.
This is most likely because you are using an older version of Ardour. 
As you can see on the news page this should be fixed in 2.8.9. For a manual workaround I’d recommend searching the forum and/or the issue tracker as this topic came up several times allready.
