Monitoring...

What’s up people! New to the board, and to Linux. I’m lovin’ it!

Ok, maybe an easy answer to this question, but I can’t figure it out…

I’m monitoring my guitar through Ardour in “software” mode and everything is working fine, but when I try to play a recording and monitor at the same time, it seems as though hitting the play button switches off monitoring. Any way I can monitor and play at the same time? Any help is appreciated…

I sound like you have “Auto Input” on (it’s a button above the “Click” button in the toolbar). If it’s green, it’s on, just turn it off and everything should work as expected.

Turning it off is used for “dry runs” when you just have “armed” the track (hence monitor it) but only doing playback and no recording.

Turning it on is used for when you actual are recording.
