Midi Learn and number CC 6 control change

Hello

I’m having trouble mapping a control surface.

MIDI Learn works fine, except for CC number 6 (and possibly others).

My question is, are there CC numbers reserved for the program itself?

I’ve tested it with other software, and CC6 works perfectly, except with Ardour and Mixbus, where I have the same problem with CC6.

Ardour does not reserve CC 6 for any purpose (nor any other CC).

I don’t understand anything. CC 1 through 5 work, but CC6 doesn’t do anything with MIDI learn, whether I’m using Ardour 8 or Mixbus 10 and 11!

Yet the data is being transmitted correctly.

That’s strange. Just checked, and MIDI learn for CC6 works as expected. Tested on Ardour 9.2, though.

I’ll try it with another controller.

But it’s true, it’s very strange.
The MIDI Learn CC 6 is recognized in Carla, Reaper, and Renoise’s MIDI monitor, but not in GMIDIMonitor, Ardour, or Mixbus.

It’s not a big deal since we can change the controller mapping, but it’s surprising that it works with some software and not others.

Out of curiosity, I also checked gmidimonitor (v3.5 on Debian Trixie), and it captures CC6 regardless of the backend used. Have you tried both Jack and ALSA backends?

Yeah, probably. But who knows what else may not work…
