Hey, is it possible to have a good keyswitch format that we can change on the fly? For example, Sforzando has multiple different instruments, and each has its own keyswitches, how do we load each keyswitch map per instrument on the same sampler?
That’s 100% a function of the plugin. Ardour has nothing to do with it (for better or worse).
Nope, it isn’t. Other DAWs loaded the keyswitch map directly on the piano roll. Reaper, for instance, loads TXT keyswitch maps.
Well, in that case, I have no idea what a “keyswitch” is …
Basically named keys for the piano roll, that when you use them, changes articulations in plugins. They are more like a reference to prevent you from having to memorize all keyswitches.
Well, it’s not hard to imagine how to do that, but I’d say that at this time it is likely low priority for any of the core devs (and I’m the one who has been doing most of the MIDI work recently).
I heard it uses XML, but how do we apply those for each instrument and switch between them? Or are they linked to each plugin? Most of the DAWs lack proper midi functions or have those done pretty roughly. Ardour seems to be the best compared to LUNA in this regard.
We load MIDNAM files to define note names, but few virtual instruments/plugins provide them, so that’s not tremendously useful. But it could be done right now with a custom MIDNAM file.
