midi keyboard for midi-notation

Hello,

i am running ardour 3 on ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have connected my midi keyboard (AKAI LPK25) to ardour, it works fine i can play on the keyboard and hear the sound. I have two questions:
1- how can i change the sound of the midi
2- Is it possible to use my keyboard to notate the midi blocks on the track, just as one would do normally using the Draw/Edit Midi Notes function (shortcut d), so that i press the keys and notes get typed on the track?

for 1: this depends on what plugin you use to produce the sound of your MIDI notes
