Midi clips which might (or might not) play

Hi Paul - or anyone else who can help - is Midi going through some re-write at the moment?

I’ve no experience of Midi but a few weeks ago I got talked into helping a Mixbus user track down a problem (which I didn’t, because I couldn’t reproduce it…) but along the way I produced this simple Midi session and I was surprised to realise that Ardour and Mixbus both replay the Midi differently - and even different versions of Mixbus replay it differently:-

At first I concluded that it was all just a bit cr*p but this morning something happened which got me wondering… I’d rebuilt Mixbus from yesterday’s git and when I loaded the above session, the midi background colour was black and some of the clips were drawn bold while others were at half brightness. And I suddenly realised that the clips I could hear were the bold ones -so presumably the others were in some non-playable state?

BUT… after closing the session and re-opening it, the bold clips / black bg etc are all gone and I’m back to seeing it as above. So can anyone suggest how I could get back to the view from this morning? Or is this still work in progress?

Look at the git logs, assuming you mean the main branch and not one of the tagged releases, there is a lot of churn right now, especially around pianoroll and cue editor.

Yes, I built from ‘mixbus/master’. FWIW Harrison’s Nathan (over on the MB forum) just told me that the brightness of a midi note isn’t an indication whether it’ll be audible or not - it’s (apparently…) governed by the note’s velocity?
