I’m programming some MIDI CC 4 automation, but the automation is out of sync with where I’ve programmed it.
For example, having the level at 0 then putting a spike to some non-zero value then back to zero, on playback the horizontal level indicator on the automation lane spikes (and the change in the audio occurs) about a beat before the playhead reaches that part of the timeline. The automation lane is set in linear mode.
Is this a bug, something I’m doing wrong or something else?
This is with 8.12 downloaded from here on UbuntuStudio using JACK/Pipewire.
That has no effect on the automation playback occurring early though.
ETA: I notice as well that automation points aren’t drawn where I click the mouse but just over a beat further along the timeline (later). Snap is turned off. I tried re-opening the session using the ALSA backend and that made no difference either.
I have no idea if this is applicable in your midi-automation case, but have you tried setting Session > Properties > Misc (Miscellaneous Options) > Default time domain to “Audio (wallclock) time” instead?
You might want to test this to see if the behavior changes.
Please file a bug report at tracker.ardour.org, preferably attaching a small demo session archive showing the issue. We apologize for the bug tracker requiring a separate login …
