Mapping a new MIDI controller

I recently acquired an Arturia MiniLab MkII, and have started using it with Ardour. The keyboard and performance pads work out of the box, but some of the other functions, especially the 16 rotary encoders, do not do anything.

Is there some particular Ardour function that most (or many) people would like to manipulate with a bank of rotary encoders? Since I’m pretty new to Ardour, and DAWs in general, nothing is obvious to me. But if there is a consensus as to what is generally useful, I can create a mapping on that basis and contribute it to the community.
