Make analyze window not block Ardour?

Is there a way to have the analyze window, from “Export to Audio file(s)” and check “Analyze Exported Audio” or just click “Only Analyze”, to not block the entire session while it’s open?

Currently I’m doing a lot of audiobook mastering, each chapter beeing a region. Since for audiobooks with runtimes of a couple of hours sometimes, it’s not possible for me to hear through the entire thing and look for peaks that exceed ACX loudness requirements for example.
So at different stages of the process I run an analysis over the project to see where I am and which chapters/regions need further refinement.
The problem is, with the analysis from the export I get a lot of usefull information but it is pretty much useless for me, because I would have to memorize all that information, close the window and make adjustments out of memory, for 10 - 20 chapters sometime. Which chapter needed what amount compression, where are harsh sibilances, etc.

Is there a way to have the window with the analyzed audio data open while working in the session?

Agree, it would be nice to be able to keep this window in the background.

I know that the option to save a PNG image of the analysis results exists at Prefs > General > Export > “Save loudness analysis as image after file export”. So if you export the audio, that image is created. Does that help? (Unfortunately, the “Only Analyze” button doesn’t save the image.)

There is not. You could however just make a screenshot.

In the preferences, you can enable a .png to be saved on export.

I could not find a direct manual link.

Ah great, I think that’s the best workaround, thanks a lot.
After I exported and analyzed all regions I select all images in that folder and open them in Viewnior. Which gives me a single window I can have open at the side and I can switch between images inside the one Viewnior instance, while making adjustments in the session. That’s a close enough workaround for me, for now.
Thanks for that hint, that will make working a lot smoother now.
