In one of my sessions I have lost my menu bar (that part of the window in which we find Session, Transport, Edit, Region, Track, View, Window, Help etc…) and that part directly under the menu bar which contains transport controls , punch in out, position display etc… All my other sessions are normal as is the mixer view in the concerned session.
Sorry to answer my own query. Go to session folder
mv /path/to/session/instant.xml /path/to/session/instant.xml.bak
Then reopen the session. Ardour will recreate this file with default window settings.

Looks like you’ve detached the main editor… in that case some other window (likely the mixer) has the main controls.
I was going to say Ardour Menu > Window > Editor > Attach , but without a window with menu-bar that’s going to be tricky. perhaps Alt + M shows mixer window.
Anyway your solution to simply remove instant.xml is fine.
No need to, this is not a bug tracker, but a forum.
But if you really want, you can edit the topic’s title and add “[solved]” at the end.
