Loop Recording Help Request

In the closed topic “Loop-punch interaction in Ardour 6.0” it was mentioned, “Just record the entire loop” as a work around for the difficult constraints on designing a loop-punch feature. I can’t figure out how to “record the entire loop”. Could someone please share how they do that?

  1. Create a loop-range (easiest by using a range selection, context menu , loop range)
  2. Create a track to record onto (and connect its inputs)
  3. Record arm the track
  4. Engage global record
  5. Start looping
