Loop range only plays once

Hello.

I’ve defined a loop (and it’s so marked by Ardour as “Loop”). The session is a new one and there are no plugins.

I can play the loop once fine, but the 3 ways of making it loop (keyboard L, Button-2, and the Transport bar button) all make it stop after one go.

I found the “loop play is a transport mode” option, but that seems to just disable the 3 methods above completely. Ordinary playing-once is unchanged.

I’ve restarted Ardour, with no change.
This seems only to have been mentioned by others years ago, and there are no suggestions there.

I’ve not made any changes to anything.
Is there some setting that’s inconsistent with looping?
Ardour 9.8.0 on AV Linux
Thanks for any help.

Hmm. Odd.

-Even when you then just press the space-bar?

Won’t help you that much, but for your info:
I just tested it with the version of Ardour AV Linux comes with (9.8-*), AV-Linux live iso in VirtualBox so with a default Ardour configuration, and it works fine (all three methods).

If it was me i’d backup the ~/.config/ardour9 and try it with a default configuration (and/or with another user).
Perhaps send a screenshot (case seems clear enough, but still).
Good luck.

Would the end Loop marker happen to coincide with the End of session marker? That one has gotten me a few times.
