A longer keyboard can be used as an option in Preferences
Sometimes I wish there was a label inside each green note (e.g. “E5”, “F3”, etc.) so I could tell what they were even without hovering over them. Maybe the labels could appear at a similar zoom level to when the grid appears.
I guess it is getting at the same thing as your idea: helping to know what the pitches at a glance.
