I’m doing drum programming at the moment in 8.6 (binary from this site, running on Ubuntu Studio 24.04). The MIDI notes are quite dense, so I’m using the scroll-wheel on my mouse for changing velocities.
I’ve found over the past couple of days that Ardour’s UI seems to have got very laggy all of a sudden when doing this, which I don’t recall it being before. I don’t have the system set to automatically update and it’s ages since I’ve done it manually, so I don’t think anything’s changed in the background that might have affected the mouse.
It’s taking around 8 to 10 seconds for the lollipop to respond to a couple of scrolls of the wheel on a selected note in the MIDI region (so moving maybe around 10 units on the 0-127 scale). The cursor remains on MIDI edit (finger with a note next to it) even when no longer hovering over the selected note, until the lollipop catches up. It’s making it hard to work quickly.
Is this an issue with Ardour or something else? The scroll wheel is working fine everywhere else. Any ideas?
