KingKorg midi usb output not recording

Good afternoon
Im trying to record midi from my king korg synth. Im using the usb midi out on the KK. Ive selected the KK midi out as the Ardour midi track input and rec-armed the track track .
The track shows no input on the bar graph (editor + mixer windows).
The midi tracer shows that the KK is the hardware source and recognises notes when i press them:

The KK midi is set to Midi(din) + Usb. When I connect another synth to the din midi out socket, it plays the notes I press on the KK keyboard.

Can you suggest what I can do to make the Ardour track record?

I got it working briefly. In a new project, I set the midi system to ALSA Raw Devices and the midi notes recorded

However when I switched to a recent project, it stopped working again.
The log shows an invalid midi capture port error:

Further update
Ardour 7.3.29 works with the kingKorg as USB midi controller in a new project, but not with an existing project stated in 7.4.
Heres the log from the existing project. It did not have an externally controlled midi track ( i used the draw tool for drums), I have added a midi track which has the kk as the input source and the problem is back

This midi track input setting will record (but not playback)

I made a second midi track to check the behaviour, it is the same.
This is what the mixer window shows

It seems like the reverse of what I would expect

I’ve sorted it out now. I find the track input selector a bit confusing but I know how to set it to work. Still finding the master out (and sometimes midi track out) disconnected at session start, but now I know what to do. So great!

Tell us what you did please. I use MIDI so rarely that I run into trouble every time I need it

Hello Claus
Basically, I use midi drums and keyboards to complete the rhythm section. I
usually start with either AVL drums or Sitala and GMsynth
keys/strings/brass etc.
I get a few sessions done without problems, then crashing starts, often
after editing a region, but sometimes just during playback. Sometimes the
whole project gets corrupted and crashes on loading.
Hope this explains what Im experiencing

My MIDI setup, once I get around to have it up and running, is fairly stable though. The other day, the interface had stopped functioning and I always think I’m the one who is doing something wrong (as is mostly the case anyway!)
