Anyone know if there is or is going to be support for the Arturia Keylab Essential mk3 as a control surface? Or should I shout at Arturia to issue a lua file for Ardour (if that is even a way to do it!)?
We don’t support control surfaces via Lua. They either get binding maps or dedicated source-code level support.
Ah, OK.But do you have any plans for a MIDI bindings file for the KL Essential mk3?
I don’t have the device, have not heard of it. Someone else would need to take care of it.
OK. My other option is to try Generic MIDI and have a go at it using a MIDI patch bay app… I have managed to remap controls in Logic’s Controller Assignments page and that has given me some confidence so we’ll see!

I am 98% certain you will want at least a MIDI binding map, but there are dozens of example files and the process is fully documented in the manual.
Doesn’t matter what page you’re on, really, especially not for control surfaces. There are little to no platform differences.
Thanks. I’ll study the manual a bit harder! I currently get limited access (transport and key bed etc) by using Mackie Control but no faders or encoders.
