It was produced from start to finish on Ardour: sketched out, tracked and then mixed. As far as plugins, I used a range of Waves and Universal Audio plugins, and the AudioThing plugins that I like and use on Linux as well.
I really like the cello sound! I admit that I’ve been struggling with this instrument on various occasions (especially live (as part of a band), though)…
Interestingly, it wasn’t a cello but rather a bowed double bass! I positioned microphones in a way that would capture more detail rather than just the low end.
Also, the other bowed instrument in the beginning - that’s a 6-string electric violin. It has an extra low and an extra top string. People sometimes think it’s a cello because how low it sounds. In live shows I sometimes needed to ask Raf (the violin player) to cut the low end on his amp.
Hey, very good job.
No need to say that the level, when it comes to « production » is on par with others « professionals ».
My question is more « where would your audience stand » if your need is to make a living with your music ?
I remember Björk saying that it was easy for her to create something completely « out of the standards », because, in her country, where music production was something important in the PIB, ( a french saying which defines the economics incomes of a country), everything was going down, so then, they could produce whatever they wanted, because the « race was lost at its beginning »!!!
Not sure if I am clear in my saying, but my feeling is, that with your skills, you can go much further in your artistic direction!
Just my to cents.
Maybe, you could give an ear to what « Travis Bird » posted here in this forum ?
I think the lady had some « motion » in, what we, maybe sadly, but that’ s how things are going, must « name » as a business!!!
Sorry, as a french guy, I type hundred words to express what could be said in two or three lines !!!
Anyway, carry on and all the best.
Post edited… it is a great first step to give a song in C minor… and it is
« courageous » in thoose times!!!
But, maybe going further in the « deepness » of the mind, and also musing with what this kind of key offers can be a « cool » challenge !!!
Sorry sorry
