Thanks for help/advice

decrease your buffer period to 2, 3 is OK for USB devices. The HDSP takes 2 only. You can do this from the qjackctl setup window.

Thank you thorgal,
I tried this set up, but still the same…
I really don’t know what can be problem, as I sad I am triing this first time.
Every think else seems to be ok. HDSP window showing signel goiing in.
And Hammerfall DSP Alsa setting changing sample rate…

Thanks for help…

which alsa version ? 1.0.15 that ships with kernel 2.6.24 is known to have a problem. You will have to switch to alsa 1.0.16 (I started a thread in this forum about the issue under the linux subforum).

Hello,
my kernel is 2.6.21-multimedia it is RT kernel … my distro is 64studio 2.1rc1 and I have alsa-base 1.0.16 package
I will check your thread.
Thanks

… then do you know how to use the TotalMix (hdspmixer) ?
If you don’t fire it up a first time, you won’t hear anything out of your card. This app initializes the HDSP and applies your saved setting (or the default if you have not fiddled around with it). If you are using it, then make sure that you have raised the faders for the appropriate routing. For each channel, whether analog-in or PCM-out, you can select which analog-out it will be redirected to. For a given analog-in, you can set up the volume fader for each analog-out (select the analog-out in the bottom of the analog-in strip). Same goes for PCM-out, for each of them you can select which analog-out to redirect it and set the volume fader for it.
Have you also checked the output of the headphone jack in the front panel of the multiface ? (available on multiface II)

Hello Thorgal thanks a lot,
It seems to be the magic…
I followed your instructions and fired up TotalMix first and checked all inputs and all outputs (18/18).
And in Jack setup also adjust input/output to 18/18.
Jack started up. Aslo all inputs working in Ardour now …
Just to make it clear for me… I have to every time I am using Multiface check all inputs/outputs?
And for Digiface 26/26?

Thanks

mirami

I have a Multiface II and the only thing I need to begin the work is run hdspmixer at the begging of the session to get sound in the soundcard, but i don’t need to check the levels.

Thanks Dinilu

I have Multiface I … Is there any difference between Multiface I and Multiface II ?
As regards behavior and any others matters…

mirami

Hey Mirami,

It is worth reading the RME manual  The windows application TotalMix is the same as the linux hdspmixer so you should find your way around!

Good luck

PS: the diff that I know of between multiface I and II is the stereo headphone jack plug on the front panel. You can reroute everything to this dedicated output for monitoring. It is pretty convenient
