What is jack missing ?

thanks for your help

Try turning off all options to JACK. Forget h/w metering, monitoring. Use the device in duplex mode, do not specify device names for playback and capture. Don’t use -Xseq even if you want MIDI - it is the wrong way to use try to get it.

Other than that, no idea based on that output.

suse 13.1 is (based on my recent experience) possibly the worst distro you could use for audio. The version of JACK which ships with it (or available via yast) seems to be a broken version of JACK2 - jackdmp - (I couldn’t get it to work at all) you most likely need to install JACK1 from some more reliable, audio-specific repos (or download the JACK1 source from jackaudio.org and build it yourself - however, if you do, you will most likely find, as I did, that even if you uninstall the previous version, you will get into a tangle with JACK1 / JACK2 conflicts as it leaves some libjack stuff behind). You may also find that the libxcb which ships with 13.1 is broken too, leading to some strange segfaults when unloading some plug-ins (or just disconnecting from the X server) - depending upon application, graphics driver, window manager, etc etc etc…

Thanks Paul, turning off the options got jack to start again. one step done of other problems I experienced recently.
linuxdsp, that does not sound encouraging.
The other problem I have is that my sound-card M-audio 1010LT stopped working. It is recognised by the system but does not show up in the qjackctl “connect” panel. Maybe you have an idea !

Reading your nickname I suppose that you might be German native-speaker…? There are some fine help pages for linux audio adjustments and adjusting problems in German language:

Good luck
