jack 0.105 + ardour trunk -- where are my MIDI ports?

So, I’ve compiled the latest jack and head of trunk for ardour, and included a home-compiled qjackctl for good measure. My goal is to see how MIDI in ardour is progressing.

Everything runs, but I’m having problems with my MIDI connections (a couple of USB MIDI ports):

  1. They show up in the ALSA tab in qjackctl, not the MIDI tab.

  2. When I add a MIDI track in ardour, I cannot select any of the MIDI ports as inputs in the mixer; they just don’t show up.

I’m obviously missing something. Any hints?

Thanks!

I think newer qjackctl doesn’t show the JACK MIDI ports in the ALSA tab anymore.

Do you run JACK with -X seq?

Hm, -X doesn’t work for me. I try this:

jackd -R -dalsa -Xseq -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2

on both 0.103 and 0.105.1; no good.

Also, when I try to set it using qjackctl, jackd fails with Unknown option.

Looking at the output from ‘configure --help’ I don’t see any options that seem to talk about alsa sequencing?

It’s “-X seq” with a space. I use it as last parameter. I’m not sure, but you might need the latest svn JACK.

It was the trunk version of Jack that I needed. My man! Thanks.
