Direct Messaging is not something we have enabled on this forum.

Is there a way to request someone’s email address (with their approval) to have an off forum discussion without publishing email address on forum?

The reason is cause I have posted email addresses in the past on forums and got hit by email bots almost overnight. Spam is annoying.

You could meet on irc and use private messages there.

thank you for this. oh gz, i have never used an irc before lol… but i will check it out. is this participated by ardour or its community?

also, everything is in plaint txt correct? so anyone can observe communications thats on the irc. just curious if this overcomes the email privacy and preventing spam.

This particular chat server is run by Libera Chat, it does allow communicating without using an email. Sending your email address to someone via a private message there has little chance to expose it to spammers although it is not secure nor encrypted (see IRCHelp.org — Privacy on IRC).
