Is there a way to disable the "window detach on drag" feature?

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use Ardour as a field recorder on a tablet. This tablet has a pen digitizer, so I am exclusively using the pen for control. When I try to switch windows using the 4 buttons in the upper-right corner, I almost always accidentally detach the window if I wiggle even 1px in any direction. Is there any way to disable this functionality?

Alternatively, I would also be okay with it if it were less sensitive (i.e. only activating if I release the “mouse button” outside of the bounds of the UI button, but i’d prefer to just turn it off if possible as I will never use this functionality and I only ever trigger it on accident even on my PC.

Thanks,
–Tyler

There’s no way to do it other than modify the source code. Which we ought to do.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the quick answer! I’ll just stick with the menu bar for now.

Is there anywhere I should open an issue for this?

Yes please. I took a look at the code, and its not a trivial fix. tracker.ardour.org is where bug reports etc. get filed. Unfortunately it requires a separate login from this site.

Ok, thanks for looking into this for me! I’ve submitted a bug – 0010446: Window detach on drag is excessively sensitive - MantisBT
