Is there a built-in way to redirect 'broken' regions to new sources?

Heyo,

This is what I’m trying to do:

FYI: I already made a Lua script that does this for me (i.e. you can copy broken regions and paste them back using new source material of your choosing).
→ But now I’m thinking that maybe there’s already a built-in method (or two) for doing this?

(Ardour’s really big, so I thought I’d at least ask to see if I missed something… :face_with_spiral_eyes:)

Or, is the only way for Ardour to handle/repair such situations is to place the missing source back into the exact folder it was originally in, and with the same name, etc.? (-A method which imo has been only moderately reliable, but when it does work is totally sufficient.)

Thanks! :grimacing:

No, there’s nothing built in to do this, and yes you would have to take all the steps you describe.

The best thing, however, is to always copy imported files into the session, and then never mess with the contents of the session folder yourself.

That definitely seems like the correct approach, yes.

Thanks for the reply. :+1:
