I’ve tried looking online and it seems I have to do something with virtual devices for pipewire? Has anyone else got this working, it’s all really complicated and I’m not sure I understand what to do.

I personally use ‘SimpleScreenRecorder’ (should be available in your Distro’s Repository). If you select the ‘JACK’ Audio backend it will use ‘pipewire-jack’ and record what Audio is coming from the outputs of Ardour and any other JACK-aware applications running when you do your screen capture. You can select to have your microphone captured at the same time or not. For this to work properly you need to (a) make sure ‘pipewire-jack’ is installed as part of PipeWire on your system and (b) you will need to also select the ‘PipeWire/JACK’ backend in Ardour.
