I saw this message on the Harrison website plugins page
‘Harrison is no longer developing plug-ins for the Linux platform. To access legacy Linux plug-in installers and to find out more, click
What does this mean for ardour linux users regarding the included Harrison plugins?
No, it’s not. I use the Vocal Intensity Processor extensively, and it’s unsupported on Linux now. Means I’m only fine as long as the build I have works. No further updates for me. This makes me extremely wary of purchasing anything from Harrison going forward. I understand this is likely because of iLok, but frankly, the decision to use iLok for AVA series wasn’t mine.
The bundled Harrison plugins that come with Ardour binaries are all XT-LV2 plugins. They will remain available as-is, and they are being maintained.
As @BenLoftis explained on the mixbus forum Harrison’s AVA plugins are no longer supported on Linux.
And for further clarity: any AVA plugins that you’ve purchased with a linux license (i.e. a text license file) will continue to work as they have in the past.
Our DAW products (Mixbus, LiveTrax, and Mixbus VBM) will continue to be provided for linux. Linux is a sizable percentage of our DAW users, and of course linux will remain the primary focus of the ardour developers, which means it will remain an important part of our development strategy as well.
