Looking through recent posts it would appear that the devs are not too happy with non developers testing in Ardour 3 or attempting to test ardour3 … I can appreciate this may create alot of noise that is a distraction.
However, as in the past some calls have been put out to test items such as MIDI clock sync and other MIDI features by Drobilla and Hans… I am wondering if there is a requirement for further testing in the MIDI area…
I am not a developer per-se but by day I am a CTI engineer and by night and/or weekends produce music using my fairly complex MIDI studio and using Ardour as a multitracking mixing enviroment… Hopefully this means I can provide useful feedback…

At this point public testing is not advisable. There is no guarantee that it will even easily compile on everyone’s computers right now, though it probably should, and there are certainly no guarantees it will run well.
If you wish to get more involved in things, you can get on IRC and talk directly to the devs there. However note that for the most part they won’t have time to help with problems like, I can’t get this to compile, or this feature is broken. A3 just isn’t ready to be tested on that level yet.
Yes I understand all of that. I personally also have limited time so don’t tend to have IRC clients installed on my machines anymore.
That is why I posed the question whether or not there are specific areas that may need testing within a complex MIDI environment. It would seem that the concept of users testing at the moment is viewed quite negatively so I will keep away.
