Install 4.6.0 failed / Sytax Error

Dear community members,
by installing Ardour 4.6.0 following the hints on http://ardour.org/first_time_linux.html , I get an syntax error by executing /bin/sh ./Ardour_32bit-4.4.0.run

./Ardour_32bit-4.4.0.run: 2: ./Ardour_32bit-4.4.0.run: Syntax error; newline unexpected.

It doesn’t matter if I try to install in a 12.04 ore a 14.04 version of 32 bit Ubuntu.

Thank for all help.

Firstly, this message seems a little confused. You mentined that you are installing 4.6 but then report commands related to 4.4.

Please try using this command: /bin/bash ./Ardour_32bit-4.4.0.run

Ok, this is because i made the typo by myself, no copy an paste. It is the version 4.6.0.

No success.
Here is the output using /bin/sh… and /bin/bash…

/bin/bash ./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run

./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run: Zeile 1: Syntaxfehler beim unerwarteten Wort »newline«
./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run: Zeile 1: `’

/bin/sh ./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run

./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run: 2: ./Ardour_32bit-4.6.0.run: Syntax error: newline unexpected

Thanks for any help

I think your download was corrupted. Let me know the invoice ID (via email to paul@linuxaudiosystems.com), and I’ll reset things so you can download it again. Alternatively, email me the “.run” file so I can take a look at it.
