Idea for Mixer Window: Bus Window

At times when I am mixing I have instrument channels feeding Aux Busses and a bunch of Buses so that I can mix the Busses instead of mixing at the instrument level.

If we Could have this bus mix window that we could select our tracks while looking at the main mix window, we could allow for some different perspectives. We could have a split window in Mixer or separate window to list selected buses so we dont get track overload in the mixer window. Thus, we could have a special place just to look at a 8 or so tracks to allow for mixing and monitoring Fx busses.

Having the separate area allows one to look at a the full length of the signal chain from instrument track to busses with many tracks.

Maybe there is another way to do this but if there are any best practices, I am all ears. Or if this is a decent idea maybe it could be implemented at some point in the future.

Create a VCA called “mains” or “busses” or whatever and add your desired busses to that VCA. In mixer window click on the big field above the fader of the VCA (where the VCA name is written). There you go, just the members of that VCA visible in mixer window.

First off thank you. This is a means of accomplishing via VCA and after all these years I never knew you could accomplish this. I just tested in in a session and it does give me the view I need.

Thanks again!

Glad it helped. I use VCA mainly for these organizational tasks in big sessions.

I still would like to have more mixer windows. Cubase used to have that: There were 3 different mixer windows and one could set each one to whatever you like to see. That made a change between channels and busses really quick.
