They’re mutually exclusive. You can either punch or loop record.
Why is it possible on xtractor or others DAW ?
I didn’t mean that it’s conceptually impossible. It’s just not implemented in Ardour. Different DAWs have different feature priorities.
I can definitely see the point of wanting to punch in in a loop mode, for instance when you get to that little part you keep getting wrong ![]()
You can just loop record, and comp it after the fact. range tool cuts though all layered regions.
Sorry I’m french. I need to record within a loop but not in the whole loop so how can I do ?
in Ardour you currently cannot do that.
That information is outdated. In Ardour 5 it was possible to do this, but recording never correctly aligned and there were always offsets. It never worked correctly.
PS. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve updated the website and also mentioned wet-recording, which was not yet implemented when that text was written a decade ago.
I pointed this almost 2 years ago using your bugtracker (bug id: 9503, comment posted on 2023-10-27 08:02). Thank you anyway.
Yeah that is currently expected behavior. Since I didn’t have anything to add there I didn’t respond, but I can see how this can be annoying for certain workflows. – One man’s bug is another man’s feature ![]()
