Due to musical accentuation, I occasionally need half measures in my project like:
… / 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 / 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 / 1 - 2 / 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 / …
not in a regular pattern but here and there.
The tempo of the project stays constant, so I don’t need the tempo to ramp, I just need occasional half measures.
Of course I could just count the 2 meassure offset in my head, but the click is off and only gets back in synch after the second half meassure (obvious). when the click is off, it throws me off, so I was hoping that ardour is able to handle that.
EDIT:
I found it myself.
Clicking on the Edit Meter button (e.g: TS: 4/4) allows to specify from which bar on a meter should be counted. So e.g. for counting 2 beats only on bar 23 but keep going with regular 4 beats after tha, set:
- Beats per bar: 2 | Meter begins at bar: 23
- Beats per bar: 4 | Meter begins at bar: 24
This way you have regular 4 beats per bar up to bar 22, on bar 23 you set the beat count to 2 and on bar 24 you set the beats per bar back to 4.
