How to filter incoming midi channel?

I have a really annoying MIDI keyboard that always outputs to 2 channels (I asked the manufacturer and this is intentional and can’t be disabled!).

Usually I work around this by putting a MIDI filter before my plugins.

Today I want to use step entry and every time I play a key I’m getting two notes added. Is there a way to tell the step input to only listen to channel 1?

Perhaps a better way is to use it as I/O plugin.

Menu > Window > I/O Plugins, then add a MIDI Channel filter plugin to the pre-process section.

The output of that plugin will also show up directly like a physical input (in connection dropdowns and on the Recorder Page).
