How do I install Ardour on a Debian Machine?

Hey folks…
I just downloaded the source code, and didnt see anything to do what I usually do for compile somethin (./configure, make, make install).
How do I proceed from here? Im very new to ardour.
Thanks.

Hi jamfi,

you would use “scons” instead of make.
http://ardour.org/building (I realize it’s a bit hard to find on the page)

But I suggest you use the official debian package. It has gotten pretty good recently, and they are very up-to-date (2.8.3 in testing, 2.8.4 in unstable, both with LV2 support etc.).

Just go for “apt-get install ardour”

Or
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/ardour/?C=M;O=D
if you want to download the .deb direcly.

Best
Benjamin

Also you can try A/V linux by gmaq. debian based.
