How do I cut the dead space from a recorded practice?

Hello all! I am a new user so far quite enjoying the Ardour experience. My question is pretty simple - I record the band I play in at practice. What I would like is a simple and fast way to highlight the down time, and basically cut it and have the remaining sections just collapse in on the empty space. So I could cut from 1:00 to 2:00, and the stuff which starts @ 2:00 would automatically slide over to the 1:00 mark. Any way to do this?

I actually figured this one out, and the solution isn’t too bad. First, set the loop (or punch) points to the down time, select everything w/in the loop points (as a region), and then delete (in splice mode) which will pull everything together.
