Highlight Sections on a track also affects other tracks-never mind

When I highlight a section of a single track, random other tracks are also highlighted. This happens whether or not the tracks are grouped.
Details:
This problem is over. I do not know what changed it back to normal.

I had 3 tracks laid down.
Track 1 does not belong to any group.
Tracks 2 & 3 belong to a single group.
If try to cut a section only from Track 1 (it does not belong to a group), this happens
