Graphic eq

I recently upgarded to ubuntu 14.04 and installed ardour 4.7 with the idea that some of the plugins had graphical interfaces (i need a graphic eq), but I have not been able to get/active any despite downloading every set of plugins i could find. Do you need to do something to activate these? Please help.

From View menu make sure Show Editor Mixer has a tick by it. There should now be,(is), a box on the lefthand side of the Ardour window which contains a Fader item/label. Select track. Right click on the box, New Plugin --> Category --> Equaliser and select the one you want. If the plugin interface does not show up double click the equaliser item/label in the Editor Mixer Box.
Alternatively open up the Mixer, right click the empty box above the balance control etc.

I don’t know about Ubuntu 14.04, but two free/libre graphical EQs are eq10q and x42-eq.

On Debian based distros they’re available in packages “eq10q” and “x42-plugins” or from source: http://eq10q.sourceforge.net/ https://github.com/x42/fil4.lv2

Thanks guys.
The problem is I cant see some of the plugins from the plugin manager, e.g. the calf plugins.
I also tried to get the eq10q but couldn’t get past the final ‘make install’ command (searched around for a fix but ended up going round in circles). Can anyone help me with installing the eq10q?
I will try the x42 later tonight.

The “make install” has to be done as root, and on my system it didn’t install them to the same directory that Ardour was expecting them to be in, but even after I’d tried to fix that (by both adding a path to Ardour’s search lists, AND by copying them to a place that was on Ardour’s original search list) they still didn’t work, but then I found I could install them from a Debian-format repository (actually the KXstudio repo) and they worked fine after that.

Ok so I installed the KXstudio repos from the website. installed eq10q and bang! Job done!
Thank you so so much for your help.
