Freezing on each midi region edit

I’m running Ardour 9.8.0 “The Equatorial Stars” (rev 9.8) Intel 64-bit. Each time I resize, move a midi region or edit a note inside it Ardour seems to freeze for about half a minute. This makes working with midi extremely frustrating. Seems like this start occurring after copy pasting a region multiple times throughout the track.

I’ve also noticed that if a project has many midi regions it takes really long time to load it up. Something is clearly not right.

Never had anything like that on older versions, but since I wasn’t really working with midi for a while I’m not sure which version introduces this problem.

What could be freezing it? Is there any way to fix this?
