I think I am encountering an Ardour bug, but I should really investigate further before anyone else gets alarmed. But I am posting anyway in case there’s a quick response available from someone.
I am using 8.12 compiled from source with a few local edits to the control surface code, that should not affect this issue.
I have one project that refuses to save for some reason. When marked dirty/modified with the asterisk in the top banner, Control-S or drop-down Save do nothing. The asterisk remains; nothing on-disk is modifed; nothing is posted to the console accessed via the red flashing dot.
However there is some stdout output generated that looks fishy. Posted below.
Snapshotting likewise does not work, either with or without ‘save current’.
There is no write protect access control on the folders as far as I can see. Instant.xml and fresh audio tracks are all written to disk properly. Reload of the project spots these and thinks there’s been a crash it should recover from.
Save-as works fine, giving me a new project with the recent edits and no asterisk. But then save will still not work within this new project.
All other projects are ok for loading and saving etc… I feel there may be some ‘write protect’ flag set somewhere in this project, but if this were a supported feature, a more obvious alert regarding saves would surely be given to the user.
Many thanks - DJ Greaves
