Does anyone have experience running an firewire audio interface through an expresscard firewire connection. Does it work? I’m planning to buy a new laptop, but before investing I want to know if it’s possibly gonna work out. I’m running ardour with a terratec phase 88 (ubuntu studio 8.04)

If you’re buying a new laptop, it will probably have a firewire port. I don’t know about expresscards.

i am in the same boat: all the laptops i am looking at do not have a built-in FireWire port. thus, i am considering using an ExpressCard 34 FireWire card. however, seems like it may be hit/miss getting it to work with FFADO+JACK+etc.
