Please check our website
at http://hyine.nettisivu.org for further information of the band.
From there you can also find the meaning of term Metsänpeitto. (It is very intresting part of Finnish folklore)

Comments and question are welcomed!

It sounds nice and creative, but to me as a some Music 4 Film.
Does Finnish Folk music contains some Drums/Percussions?
Music is steady, almost meditative. It has its own power.
But its too steady.
Give it some contrast in arrangement.

Its Folk and some distortions

I appreciate your comments. It is good to read constructive feedback.
I can understand your points. And also I like the songs in your link, but the style is little different.

Of course Finnish folk contains percussions but I think singing is the most important part of Finnish folk music and also instrument called kantele.

We don’t have kantele or singing, so in my opinion Hyine is not folk band. It is just music inspired by Finnish folklore. And this album was a test to make soundtrack for our imagination.
Purpose of the album is tell a story without any words. A story about getting lost in forest and discovering yourself.

The songs of album are :

  1. Kun tie päättyy (When the road ends).
  2. Purolta Pohjoiseen (Northward from the brook)
  3. Kuunkajo (Moonlight).
  4. Varjot (Shadows).
  5. Metsänpeitto (Metsänpeitto).
  6. Kotiinpaluu (Coming back home).
(The correct listening order is opposite to the order of songs in soundcloud)

We have also one music video. It was also made in dream like style.

Kantele is nice Instrument.
There are many kinds of it

this one is old Persian

So dont waste your time, try to record it.
Take some Mics and record Kantele
And nice Voices in Finnish.
Its amazing language. Old Uralic group.
Its not "pressed"by Latin (Romans) influence, so it sounds like
something very original.
Try to mix that instrument and your Folk Tails with your modern instrumental music.
Modern and traditional

Vocal is pure Sevdah (bosnian singing style, bosnian “blues”) and song-text is very old, but they play
some latin jazz beat-style.

Keep on rocking, music is core of mankind.
