Are there any good Fender Rhodes or electric piano plugins for Linux?
Gratis: the MDA E-piano is not great, but it’s not bad
For cost: Pianoteq is probaly the gold standard here. Multiple models (though they don’t use recognizable names, I assume due to trademarks etc)
SurgeXT and Dexed are worth a try. A high-cut filter or speaker IR at the end may help. LSP phaser adds a nice touch as well.
If SFZs are an option too, I’ve used the jRhodes3 SF2 quite a lot and there are updated SFZs available: GitHub - jlearman/jRhodes3d-wav: wav format for jRhodes3d
I really like Zyn and Yoshimi’s electric pianos.
I have an actual Rhode mk1 and Pianoteq is undistinguishable from the real thing for me. As for FOSS, EP-Mk1 does an excellent job. Not as configurable as Pianoteq but the raw sound is every bit as good. Higly recommended. I actually use both and just the keep the real one for the clients.
Nice e-piano. But the base Hz is wrong. I had to correct it to 404 Hz that would be 440 Hz.
Perhaps related to this?
Cheers,
Keith
Yes, on 44.1kHz works normally. Thanks!
This sample set is free as in beer, but not freely distributable (I think) and you need an account (email required) to download:

Comes as DecentSampler and SFZ instrument and raw samples.
If you’re looking for something that can fill the roll of a Rhodes but doesn’t actually need to be one, try out some samples of the Hohner Pianet T. It has a character in-between a Rhodes and a Wurlitzer.
For example:
and
or (older):
and a commercial option, also SFZ:
Pianoteq also has a very good Pianet T and N simulation.
I also want to plug my talk from Sonoj 2023:
How to play FLOSS keyboards like it’s 1978
which has links to many plugins and libraries for vintage keyboards.
